New Season – New Commanding Presence

Mercian is a leading name in field hockey. Recognised for setting technical performance standards and a deep connection to the sport’s culture. Ahead of the 2025 season, the challenge was to translate Mercian’s established design DNA into a bold new product lineup and launch a new 'solid core' technology. Our creative approach centred on the idea of ultra confidence – a concept that built on the brand's DNA and projects it as a bold, commanding presence on the shelf and on the pitch.

PRECISION AND DURABILITY

We developed a range design system that reflects the precision and durability at the heart of every Mercian product – where each stick is treated as an elite-level tool. The visuals avoid superfluous detail, focusing on the clarity, control, and purpose that sit at the heart of Mercian's product design philosophy.

DISTINCTION BY DESIGN

While staying true to Mercian’s design DNA, we introduced bold neon yellow, orange, and iridescent accents to reflect the brand's energy and pace. These colours, paired with varied finishes, help distinguish products across the collection and build appeal for the different customer profiles – creating distinction by design, and making the line-up clearer and easier to navigate.

SPECIFICATIONS MADE CLEAR

Iconography consistently communicates the key specifications of each model – from material composition to surface treatments and construction technologies. The style draws from the Mercian primary visual brand, creating visual continuity across the line. Each icon was designed to be clear, consistent, and easy to read – adding a layer of meaning to the system and helping players make more informed choices based on their individual playing styles and ambitions.
