After endless media speculation and enthusiastic advice, Jaguar's famous leaper finally made an appearance as Premier Automotive Group boss, Wolfgang Rietzle, announced their intention to enter the brand in Formula One. It was an intense period which involved deep investigation into what made Jaguar great and how Formula One could revitalise it and inspire a new generation of Jaguar drivers.
Over the bank-holiday weekend in August, a team of hard working craftsman in Perivale, West of London, transitioned the Stewart-Ford SF3's tartan to a radiant green 'Cat" for the influencial Frankfurt International Motor Show.
Expectations were at fever pitch. In F1 the addition of another 'classic' sports car brand was thought to be a significant boost, but for the Jaguar brand it was the beginning of the modern era and Formula One, a catalyst for the whole company to return to the ethos of Sir William Lyons.
