In late 1999 a new concept for an affordable, show-orientated motor racing platform was being developed. Backing came in the form of an established group of media companies and, with a five year commitment, the business plan was now a mission. The platform borrows much from the hugely successful United States NASCAR series, with a European spin in the form of the car shapes and classic road courses.

The newly installed management team asked Interstate to define the event’s identity and the foundations of its commercial and sporting communications. As V8STAR presented a new facet of motor sport for the creative team the project began with a phase of familiarisation and research.
